Cubiculum is the new Italian/Spanish musical project created by Spanish trumpeter David Pastor and Italian bassist Massimiliano Rolff, joined on tour by the special presence of Dutch pianist Joost Swart and Italian drummer Ruben Bellavia.
A quartet of jazz and composers widely recognised on the international music scene, as much in jazz as in the most refined and popular pop music as flamenco.
Cubiculum is the result of the successful collaboration between David Pastor and Massimiliano Rolff, who from 2015 have shared numerous stages of clubs and festivals in Spain and Italy. From the understanding of the two musicians, Cubiculum is grown as a stable project of wide international breath, which connects the Italian and Spanish jazz culture in jazz, where the individual characters and the experiences of the four musicians are highlighted.
Cubiculum is a flow of hardbop energy, modern and fresh, linked to the contemporary jazz language, characterized also by the typical Mediterranean rhythms. The overall sound shows many of the cultural aspects of this international meeting, four musical personalities, apparently distinct, but able to find themselves among the open harmonies and the creative spaces of improvisation.
